At IsleField we believe in Textured Living.

We are in the business of making comfort. Cozy comfort in all spaces — the softest natural materials, novel pattern work, and color that shifts with the season the way the field does.

It starts with the hand. Cashmere combed from goats wintering at altitude. Silk, cotton that breathes, and the softest blends. Pointelle, cable, rib — texture you can read with your fingers before you ever see it in a mirror. Sweaters, scarves, and tops made in small batches, soft and never itchy, warm without bulk, and better in year five than year one.

There is an old survey map of a property outside Philadelphia, drawn before the land was divided. Three roads meet and hold an island of green between them, with a field inside. Two names on one piece of paper, written by the same hand a century ago: Islefield, and Darlington.

That is where the name came from. IsleField began in the carriage house and barn on that map. Stone floors that held the cold into April, soft carpets thrown down over them so you could stand all day, and an old farmhand table long enough to lay a whole collection out at once — swatches, yarn, color cards, the season taking shape end to end. The buildings are no longer ours, but the work still starts there. Every piece begins in that barn, in that cold, at that hour.

Everything we make sits inside a triangle of its own. We make things where they come from. Our cotton pieces are sourced and knit entirely in the United States, at family mills upstate — when we call a cotton sweater made in the USA, we mean it. Our cashmere is sourced and made in Nepal and Mongolia, where the goats live, so the fiber doesn’t cross an ocean before it becomes a sweater. We cut for a fit that is actually right, for real shoulders and real days rather than sized down from someone else’s block. And we make in small batches, so a piece is better in year five than in year one and was never designed to expire in April. Where those three meet is the whole point.

Rachel Skyman is Founder and Designer. Born in the U.S. and raised across cultures, Rachel grew up in Panama in an entrepreneurial family, where she learned early how business, creativity, and resilience intertwine. She studied apparel design at the Rhode Island School of Design and spent her early career in New York with Ralph Lauren, Lilly Pulitzer, and Tommy Hilfiger before launching IsleField in 2014 at Patricia Adams in Haverford, Pennsylvania. She now splits her time between Pennsylvania, Panama, Alaska, and Sweden — equestrian mornings, fishing weekends, and cold places that ask something of what you wear. Her love of texture informs all things IsleField, and the perennial garden sets the seasonal palette.

Cozy comforts from barn muck to cocktails. Rachel lives on the Main Line with her two daughters and a sweet black lab.
